Do you stop for funeral processions? (vehicles, red light, truck, driver)

Yes I do and always will. Today, things get confussing because some folks don't follow tradition. We used to turn on our headlights so that we were plainly marked as being part of the funeral. Then, nobody had any doubt where it ended and they could come out in traffic. But with so many new cars that have headlights on all the time, it gets a little strange to figure it out.

There was no doubt in the last one I was in. I was riding off seat in the wagon. We cleaned up and decorated the oak wagon and had the team and wagon waiting at the funeral. They brought the 15 month old girl out in her casket and loaded it on the wagon. We also loaded both sets of grandparents and of course, the parents. We carried her from the funeral home to her final resting place, several miles away. Nobody cut that line.

I hate the fact they get to run lights and signs. They hold up traffic. I have never cut one off but i have went the next block over to avoid them and get ahead.

The last time I pulled over to let an ambulance drive past(lights and siren on) the guy behind me just kept going. People are just zoned out and oblivious to common sense laws and whats going on around them.

Very rare to see one with more than 3/4 cars over here (hearse and immediate family limos). They still need to follow all traffic signs and lights. If they get seperated the front car will stop until the others catch up. One doesn't see cars pulling in between the funeral cars and people just wait for the cars to go past and follow on behind. They don't drive particularly slowly, maybe 10mph below the speed limit.

No, but because it's the law I will just deviate from my course. It's legal to turn off to take another course prior to the funeral procession actually reaching you.

I find it hard to tell sometimes if a line of cars is a funeral procession or not. I wish they did more to make it obvious than they do. I stop. It has happened, though, that I cut through one that I did not realize was a procession until it was too late.

I rarely see them. In my 8 years of driving, I have only seen 2. Why is that?

Yes, basic courtesy and I never see one that delays me for more than a minute.

I agree that the new cars with 'always on' head/running lights does add some confusion...
