They didn't mention, but GM also used a semi-automatic transmission back in 1968-71 called a "torque drive".

So I take it the Chrysler record players used special records? How were they special?

Never saw the horses head before....I wonder if that's where all those taxidermed deer heads you see hanging on someones wall, evolved from?

Just thought of another one. The 300's used to have (not sure if the 2011-up ones have it) tilting side view mirrors when you shift into reverse. Not sure if they all had it or if it was part of some upgrade package. My '06 300C had them. I guess it came in handy when parallel parking (?) but for normal use it pretty much negated the side view mirrors when backing up.

Station wagons have had rear facing seats at least as late as the 1990s and maybe even what few station wagons that are around today probably have rear facing 3rd seats.

The Ford Country Squire wagons from 1965-1991 had dual facing side facing cargo area seats. I have a 1972 Chevrolet Caprice station wagon that actually has a front facing 3rd seat. Strange, but through 1970 GM wagons had rear facing 3rd seats, then from 1971-76, they had front facing 3rd seats, but with the 1977 redesign, they went with the rear facing seats again and that is how the remained until the end of that design in 1990, then with the 1991 redesign of the big General Motors station wagons which lasted until their demise in 1996, they were again rear facing seats.

How about the "Puerto Rican Package" that can be obtained by buying every stick-on accessory from Auto-Zone?

Electric power radio antenna. Jams and then becomes a useless feature.

As useless as that was, there was something really sweet about shutting the car off and watching it go down.

Haha, my uncle has a Karmann Ghia with the semi-auto transmission, he loves it.

My personal experience with a silly automotive feature would have to be the fold out cup holders in the older Subarus. Even the most experienced Swiss watchmaker would be awed by the complexity of something so trivial, haha.

And if you do use the cup-holders you sure as Hell better hope that you have the radio set and the heating or A/C at where you want it, cause there is noooooo way you are getting at them once you place your drink.

Edit: Ooo! I also want to speed adjusted radio volume, and speed adjusted wiper blades.

it was also useful when driving through a carwash. Some carwash will remove your antenna before you went through. With power antenna, just turn off the stereo.
