ok, so I seem to be shoppping for a new car. Now I drive a vw jetta tdi which is great for gas ; 42 mpg. But its getting tight for my two boys and its time for a new car.

I was looking at the ford escape hybrid or the toyota highlander hybrid. Any comments.

thanks
dorothy

The extra money you pay for a Hybrid does not always make up the amount you save in gas. Highlander is more on par with the Ford Explorer. The Escape is on par with the 4Runner.

Highlander is a very comfortable car. Camry engine. Smooth, gentle ride. And of course, excellent reliability record and resell value. Ford Escape is smaller, not as smooth a ride.

Did you test drive both?

I agree . The Highlander is a better vehicle than the Ford Escape . I would go with the Highlander . With the Highlander , you carry up to 7 people , Escape only sits five people .

Sorry, I meant to say the Escape is par with the RAV4 (not 4Runner)...

I went to a toyota dealer yesterday but my friend was off. But today I am going to the car show and will look at as many as I can.

I liked the highlander ; liked the bucket seats ; would keep my two boys apart!!

Thanks
dorothy
