Many of the unskilled 'drivers' I see have trouble texting/looking at smartphones, while zigzagging down the road...that kind of stuff is creeping into our cars every new model year, but in a reduced, less obvious or flamboyant way.
The in-dash stuff, (inc TV & Net on NAV workarounds), is not what we need, imo.
It's what Buffy & Biff think they need or want, but many drivers have come to feel immortal and protected in their new cocoons, and think they can manage all the tech, the 'constant contact', the kids in the back seat, and still wander down the road. It has gotten past common sense and 'safe', imo, and it continues to seep in via the mfg'ers 'tech' competition.

Wait. The police stopped someone for speeding on the autobahn?
That being said, pretty much the only thing you need in your dashboard is music and GPS (and you can do without both). I carry an office around with me (laptop, files, etc.), but it's all in the back seat where it belongs. My truck DOES have a fold down desk in the middle of the front seat, but it's just where pens, vehicle insurance, etc., reside and it's usually folded up into the seat back.
Ha lol. I suppose he did a little more work than what he could do a good phone or tablet. I am really kinda curious as what kind of work he's doing to need all that stuff.
Haha, and to be fair, don't a lot of cop cars, in the US anyways, have laptops sitting up hit in center like that, and i think I've even seen or heard of printers?
I don't have any problem with that stuff so long as the guy doesn't drive and use that office at the very same times..
The problem is, the driver probably does... They do here.
What gets me is a generation that can barely drive still plays with this stuff while moving... I can't really call what some of them do 'driving'.
I mean when you are doing 35 MPH in the passing lane weaving around, and the road is Interstate 95 with a posted limit of 65 that isn't driving...
I don't own a cell phone but last week out with my wife she called the cops on some fool who was out piloting. She gave the cops a full description of the car too, and where it was.
I was driving so it was ok... She had to put me on the phone first because the cops thought she was alone....
My take was who ever was ahead of me had better beer than I did...
I doubt the cops did a thing....
Cars should be made to need the use of both hands and feet to drive..... That and have faraday cages installed.
He's now the envy of realtors and salesmen around the world! It's because of people like this that I imagine having a targeted mini-EMP bomb that I could detonate at particular vehicles. Merely having a cell phone jammer wouldn't phase this guy.
