Lexus. They're as quiet as anything on the road. They have fewer problems than anything that has ever been made. They are economical. They have become the Common Denominator Car for the rich - from Dentist Rich, through Surgeon Rich, and all the way up to Oligarch Rich.

I can tell when new associates are calling me from a Lexus. I don't have to ask what they drive. There's that much of a difference. And the 'problems' thing is a biggie. When your time is worth thousands of Dollars an hour, there's a hefty price tag attached to sending your Assistant off to the mechanic with the car. Assistants aren't free. And they could be doing something productive with their time, instead of mollycoddling a temperamental car. Attending to it yourself means thousands upon thousands in opportunity cost.

The rich, of course, own other cars. But they drive Lexus.

I don't know any "rich" people lol. I know some married co-workers who make a little over $200k together, but I don't know if I'd call that rich in California. I'd consider it well off.

In any case, semantics aside, they drive Accords, Lexus, Jeeps, Mercedes, 3-Series. Nothing too wild.

Some of the more middle/lower middle class people I know drive more expensive cars. However I know some frugal people who are into cars. One is single and frugal and saved up to buy an M3, one had an inheritance and the others are well, in debt. lol.

A long time ago I knew and worked for my aunt's boss's company (I was 10 at the time). I swept floors and cleaned the bathrooms, very poorly. Anyway, he inherited his dad's aeroparts company and was rich. He drove a brown early 80's Porsche 911 Targa, and went to the local Casino almost every night. He was a short, round man, he'd drink Martinis, drive drunk every night, cheated on his wife, married a card dealer, then passed away from liver failure about 10 years ago.

But I'll always remember that Porsche. lol.

The rich people here often drive Audi's. I hate those stupid cars, all the drivers drive them way too fast, tailgating etc... and they have those annoying "supabrite" (as I call them) bright white headlights that blind you in the rear view mirror. Usually driven by the small penis brigade along with BMW and Mercedes. No I'm not jealous of them the car I drive gets far better MPG. Every single time I've been tailgated while doing the limit, or overtaken while doing the speed limit, or witnessed terrible wreckless sloppy driving it was an Audi. Weird.

I see middle class as someone that has a net worth of up to $10million. Individuals that have a net worth over the $10million mark are considered rich. I do know one guy that has a $200million company and he drives a Range Rover. I know another guy that owns a $350million company and he drives cars from a collection. Oprah is driven in a Subburban around here. She is worth a couple Billion.
I'd say you're probably pretty spot-on.

I figure anything up to $2.5 million or thereabouts is solidly middle-class while from about $2.5 million to $10 million is definitely upper-middle and once you get to the $10+ million threshold, you're talking truly wealthy individuals. It's pretty common to run a business and have a net worth between $1 and $3 million but still need to work to meet financial obligations.

A very small percentage of people in the United States are worth over $100 million and once you get to that level, money is basically like water as you make so much, you'll never be able to spend it all.

You obviously don't know many farmers, nor do you know much about farming, how much land farmers generally own, and the price of real estate...

Another fairly rich guy drives an Infiniti M37 and a Honda motorcyle and has his 1986 acura as a third car

Another rich guy between these two in wealth drives a Porche and not the Boxster, his second car is Infiniti FM45

My reading comprehension is just fine. Ostentatious is still not equivalent to conservative, but I think consumers are more bargain oriented shoppers than brand loyal. I think I should look for a 1 owner 1980s Volvo DL, though. A nice summer vehicle. Still plenty of nice salt free California cars out there.
