Does prolonged idling (beyond a few minutes) of an engine damage it on newer cars?

I have a 12 valve. No emissions equipment, not even an ECM.

You'd better not idle that 12 valve for more than 5 minutes or the EPA police are going to come shut it down. The lack of emissions equipment is terrible for the environment and is going to cause the planet to turn into a wasteland.
