Prior to having a new dash mount receiver installed, I set the system to off through the old factory receiver. Now, after 6 months it somehow managed to turn itself back on. Fortunately it is set to passive, so the key stops the horn blaring upon entering vehicle.
I don't want this 14 year old system to function at all, as even a locksmith with the computer could not program a new remote. Apparently dealerships have an expensive lock on this service, no pun intended.
I would contact the aftermarket stereo manufacturer, they have a vested interest in this.
The new Kenwood may be shorting out my climate control module as well, am replacing that today.
One of the connectors is visibly burned.
The alarm I figured out, but if the new module fries again it's going back to Best Buy; they installed the receiver.
