A person that old is a high risk.. It wont be wise to owe big money on a car,,Just something dependable . I believe someone might be thinking about driving grandmas car after she cant. What kind of car has she been driving? If she doesnt even own a car and now thinks she wants to start driving,,,this seems kinda odd to me....

Nobody asked you for a risk assessment, besides which you already provided it once. If you have nothing to contribute to the actual thread topic, GTFO.

Um, are you sure this is a response to the right thread? The OP's mother currently drives a Honda and from the makes/models she has owned, I'd say it's very safe to say that she has been driving for decades. And, age-related issues with driving are a personal issue. There are some 40-year-olds on the road who should not be, just as there are some 75-year-olds who are fit, sharp, and healthy, such that their experienced driving makes them much lower risks than other drivers. The OP asked about cars, though, not about whether or not their mother should continue to drive, so we should respect that and please stick to discussions of makes/models that would suit her preferences.

Too bad she's not interested in the FIAT. I've owned a MINI and now a FIAT 500 convertible. Loved both. The MINI got expensive once it was out of warranty (they charge you BMW pricing on parts)
about 10 months before my 75 yr old mom passed from cancer, she was involved in a collision in which her car (2007 Toyota RAV 4) was totaled but she walked out without a scratch. she simply got a new 2011 RAV 4 because she swore the RAV 4 saved her life
so with regards to this post this is what i think of
when i was shopping for the Yaris i was shown the XB--it looked and was roomier than the Yaris but I didn't care for the styling
