Looking for a second car/summer car. Found what I want at a dealership.. one problem is I did an edmunds price check (True Market Value) and the Trade in Value is 2,900 higher than what it lists as Dealer Trade in!
If you look at Kelly its 4,000 higher than what the dealer is charging.
Car is 1 year old with 10,000 miles and clean carfax.
Would you just pay asking and try to get them to knock off documentation fees which are bogus?
If your happy with the price pay it, if you think its a bit to high, try to haggle with them. Just because the car has a clean car fax, I would still get it check out my a mechanic.
Offer them whatever you think is fair and that you feel comfortable with. And if they say no, deal with it or buy it. And then when someone asks what you paid for it just smile and say, "I got a good deal."

Thanks.. I was willing to pay the higher amount.. the only negative is I wanted a 5 speed, but a 6 speed automatic will suffice..

Then buy the car. While you're thinking about it someone else may be down there signing up.

While Kelly and Edmunds will give a ballpark value the place to check fair market price for your area is.....NADA.com.......which is the same price service dealers use. NADA will get you closer to a price the dealer will work with. Most lending institutions also use NADA to price the loan so ask them to check out the car (they often let the customer borrow the book as long as you stay in the building).

Dealers use galves to cross check auction pricing in the dealer.
From my experience galves, which is available to you by prescription, comes in around 20% leas than KBB poor trade in value.
The "prices" on those free sites are nothing and based on nothing, KBB doesn't write checks and neither does nada.
