They should put a deposit on cigarette butts. Charge a 10 cent deposit on each one and it will stop. People will whine and complain and say it is impossible and unfair, but they will carry the pack around with them and dump their "empties" into it and things weill clean up. Worked with cans.
I love this idea...a deposit to keep them honest, MAYBE they will not throw so many on the ground.
I never really cared about this, until one day I was behind someone on the highway who decided to toss their cig butt out the window at about 65MPH.
I dunno if it was some miracle shot, or something that frequently happens, but the lit butt came back, and wedged itself up my sleeve on my left arm that i had out the window and gave me a nasty burn!
Now every time i get a lit butt off the hood on the highway, all i can think about is the burn I got from one
I was stuck in traffic and decided to throw one back on the guy. He started to mouth off until I headed back towards his car and he stopped. Usually I just get over it, but this one bounced off my truck. Many smokers are such sad people, who do not care about the environment nor other people.
This annoys me for some reason. What if one of those lit butts goes into my hood scoop and winds up on a fuel line or puts a pit in my clear coat?
I know it is far fetched or maybe impossible, but something just doesn't sit right with me about it.
I feel like people do this because they can get away with it. Why don't smokers just use an ash tray? I mean, you smell of smoke when you are done. Why can't you suck up your car smelling like it as well?
The mindset of those idiots is they don't want any cigarette stink in their vehicle. If only they realized since they're smoking in their vehicle, it will ALWAYS stink like cigarettes.

Nah... I'm just someone that finds the habit of meddling in someone else's affairs to be a far worse habit than smoking.
