I drove a 1978 Chrysler test-car cross country once. You wouldn't believe how fast it went, so I won't say. But, there is a Wyoming highway patrolman who had a story to tell when he got home.

Maxed out a mid size Ford LTD in college, at about 112. Actually rode pretty smooth.

Now I'm too chicken to go any faster than about 90.

115 in my partner's CL Type S. It was beautiful.

I also don't know how, but when I was 16 I hit 88mph in my 1990 VW Fox with 81 hp (at sea level - I live in Denver and was driving in the mountains, so you could knock it down to 50hp or so).

I've gone about 160 in my 2002 M3. Highway 93 north of Vegas. So stable at speed, couldn't even tell I was going that fast. I used to hit that stretch up every Sunday, after I got up to wash the car at 6AM.

Fastest I've ever driven was 128 mph in an 87 Buick Regal with a turbo 6.

141 in a 1987 Mustang. The rear end started to float - that cured me of needing to speed.

Bought a new 1973 Porsche 911 Owned it for many years. Belonged to a Porsche club so got to drive on many tracks. Lime Rock, Pocono, Bridgehampton, but the best was Watkins Glen. Engine could have had more torque to climb through the esses before the back straight so could only get to 145 mph. [that was pre chicane]

The fastest I have ever driven is about 110mph. I did this about five or six years ago when I drove my new 2001 Nissan Maxima on a trip to Louisiana. I drove at that speed for about 15 miles. That was a sweet car. My mother and brother were in the car and rooted me to go on to 120mph, but I was scarred to go any faster.
Petal to the metal, 120 hour after hour in an Austin Healy BN 100-6. The twin Camair would putter along at 250 low cruse.
