My first car is the one I'm driving right now, a 1997 Ford Taurus with 191k miles on it at this time. We've had it since 1999 and I hope to never get rid of it.
I have the same car, except it's white and it's a 99 or 98 .It was also my first car. I really don't like it that much because you don't do any extensive modification to it; can't even put in an aftermarket stereo. I wish it was the SHO model, it's too slow for me. These things are bullet proof; rarely had any major problems with the car. Only big thing that was replaced was the power steering pump, that's it. I believe it has 170xxx miles on it, I have to check again.
My first car, not counting the '71 Vega that my parents bought for my brother and me in college ( what a POS!!) was new '73 Luxury Le Mans like this one only 4 door with the finder skirts! It had a 400cc V8 and went around everything except the gas station. I bought it new in the fall of '73 when I started my first job. Then , a couple months later, the first Arab Oil Embargo. UGH!! I was lucky to 12 -13 MPG in that. I was very dependable, though! Especially compared to the '75 Volvo 242 my wife and I bought couple years later!
1985 chevy camaro v6. With some minor surface rust.
My parents paid for it but I didn't have a job I had numerous school things and sports I was involved in. It was 13 years old at the time.
I was at the time fixing and taking care of all the cars at my parents house. Oil changes, minor repairs, etc... still did afterwards and even paid for some stuff out of my own pocket so I kind of earned it.

That gas lines sidelined a lot of American cars...
People were trading Boss Mustangs, Z-28 Camaros, 340 Dusters, Chargers for Pintos, Vegas, and Plymouth Crickets... Honda was just making a name with the Civic and Datsun and Toyota had fuel sippers...
I worked at a car lot and people were desperate to unload their cars...
One guy had an Olds 455 Vista Cruiser... he went to the Dealer and bought a 350 air cleaner cover to sell the car... all was ok till the new owner a family friend went to do a tune up and nothing was right.
1972 Chevy LUV pickup truck. Bought it in '74 at my first permanent USAF duty station. Paid for it myself. Learned to drive in South Florida in an automatic Lincoln. Boy, CA's rolling hills with that 4-speed manual was an experience...
1968 Plymouth Belvidere, acquired in 1984. Drove it for about a year or so in HS and traded up to a 1973 Beetle by graduation.
The Plymouth was a 2 door with slant 6 and low miles. It was in good shape but I never get nostalgic or wish I still owned it but my head always turns when I see a 68 Roadrunner.
