Honestly, you can live with it. It gets annoying on insanely hot days or if you often park your car outdoors. It also depends on how long you want to keep the car.

It is not a cheap fix, at the same time, just check around. I know Firestone wanted $1K for my brake repair, the highest out of the 4 that I went to. I settled with a tire guy who works at a nationally known tire and brake place on craigslist for a total of $150 for the brake repair. Just check around, but AC repair is not cheap.

Default Accord a/c

I just had the Condenser and drier replaced on a 2004 accord and they also replaced 2 of the schrader valves and of course recharged the system and the cost was under $550. I did it at a local independent Honda shop which based on other estimates is about 35% under dealer cost.

My symptom was that the a/c was not cooling and the passenger side seemed much colder than the driver side. My mechanic (Dallas, TX) said that the drier had came apart and the drying beads from the drier were clogging the condenser.

I did have a 30.00 coupon. Parts 281, labor $221.

I was quoted 1125.00 to replace an AC compressor and dryer.....that includes everything. This is for a 2005 Chrysler pacifica. Thoughts on price??

Get another quote or two.

Having said that, if the $1125 includes a COMPLETE job, then it's not out of line. You may get it $100 cheaper somewhere, but watch to see that you're comparing apples to apples.

Okay wait a minute. The AC on those cars are INSANELY expensive. The price you were quoted is probably not too bad - provided it's a complete job.

honestly in columbus OH I would save the $1200 and go without ac. it shouldn't get too hot in the summer. But you might be different than me, I usually drive with my windows open except for the highways

AC isn't just for the summer. It is also very helpful for defogging windows other time of the year.

Those prices are insane of course...I am grateful for my tools , garage, and internet car forums.
