I am looking at a car with a built supercharged gm 6
0. I know very little about superchsrged cars
They claim it provides 15 pounds of boost 900 hp and is tuned to get 24 mpg hwy.

is this even possible?

is this an engine thst will need to be rebuilt constantly?
will it be impossible to work on?

it is not really what I am looking for. I do not need 900hp but it sounds like fun. plus a pedder street suspension package is a nice plus.

is this just asking for a heap of trouble?

well typically it would be abused but also it will get you alot of speeding tickets but get it checked out by your trusted local independent performance shop mechanic and see what he says and if it is all good and the price is right then go for it.

If you are thinking maintenance will be the same as a normal factory car, you'd be wrong. You will be working on it. With only 15lbs of boost, I'd have to see the dyno sheet as that seems awfully low. The engine is capable of that kind of HP but not at 15lbs. Fuel mileage will depend on how the supercharger is set up but yeah, they can get that kind of fuel mileage. You'll need to watch the oil a lot closer as fuel dilution is an issue with supercharged engines. Run it hard enough and the oil viscosity falls like a rock and degradation happens. It can be fun but like anything making big HP numbers, the harder you run it the quicker it's going to need work. Have they told you about what fuel to run in it? At 15 lbs boost, pump gas is going to be marginal.

900 HP = trouble = no where near 24 mpg and lots of broken parts. Very few drivelines are set up to handle 900 HP.

Seems like the car in question is a 06 GTO with Maggie 122 supercharger on the LS2?

Already buying a 8 yr old car.
An 8 yr old car - heavily modified making absurd amounts of power.

15 lbs of boost on a supercharged car is a decent amount for an aftermarket kit, actually. And I can see 900hp from 15 psi, the old 5.0 Mustang Vortech V3 kits are rated at 17psi and good for 725 horsepower with supporting engine mods. This is a 6.0, so 900 sounds about right... assuming the motor has been built.

OP, if you don't know much about modified cars, I'd pass. It'll be nothing but trouble for you.

It would cost a lot more to Turbo a LS2 then pick-up an Aftermarket brand ie Vortech or a GMPP Supercharger kit for it
