In the family car, sure, it already has cheerios all over the place. In my car, probably not. My seats have suede inserts that would be pretty hard to clean.

Back when I drove a beater, the rule was that you can smoke/drink/eat if you want to, just don't get food on the windows.

Geeze, bunch of old ladies... We don't mind eating in any of our cars, including our vintage sports cars, and our new Mercedes coupe. It's a CAR... I also have the ability to eat without spilling, and if something does spill, there is nothing in any car that can't be cleaned fairly easily.

The only cars we have that we don't eat in, are our race cars, because when racing, we're pretty busy... At the race track last weekend, we were cruising around the pits in a friend's Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, EATING our sandwiches. If it's ok in a $1.7M car, it's probably ok in a Camry...

In my car, absolutely not. In the family car, you can usually just find some food between the seats.

All my cars have been used, i got the insides as clean as i could. Like hours of work. No food or drink, i care about my car and dont like the risk. The closest to it was when me and my ex would picnik in the bed of the pick up i had. I also dont let people sit or lean on my car either. When im done with my mustang, there'll be no smoking either. Respect your car.
With kids it's not just the food you have to worry about. It's when they get sick and puke all over the place. Try cleaning that up without puking yourself. My kids are a little older now and don't have that problem now, and I don't give rides.

I appreciate if someone asks before eating, and in some cases (like pizza) I would kindly ask that the person wait to eat. That being said, I could care less about food in the car, I commute and my husband and I take lots of road trips. It's inevitable that it will be messy.
