The catylitic converter must get up to temperature to do it's job properly, I suspect getting it warmed up at idle rather than while your driving and creating more emmisions due to more fuel usage would actually reduce the tailpipe emmissions.

You should use an ice scraper to remove the ice from the car. Saves energy and is much better for the environment. Try it!
Ols school arent you? That's ok. We are a lazy society. I'm sure your guilty of something like that too. No one is innocent.

Why do I use a remote car starter? For days like today when the wind chill starts out at 4 below zero and is expected to fall during the day because of wind. I start my car from inside my house and when I get in the car 12 minutes later, it's warm.

Right. I always hate when that happens.

Nice. I'd like to buy you a set of baby-seal seat covers for Christmas too. I think you'd like them. They're cute.

Somebody repped me on my post from about 2 years ago. That will make up for the negative rep I got from this thread way back in the beginning. Most of you probably weren't even around during our negative rep period.

What a fun thread. Thx 4 bumping it up. Sure is cold outside. It's 5 now.

Oh my goodness. You are really trying to say that starting the car remotely and leaving it running for five minutes before driving it is going to release greenhouse gases and cause the earth to melt? Do you really buy into that nonsense?

Yeah, but thankfully I can start my car with my remote starter and let it run for 10 minutes before I leave.

With the cold snap thats crossing a lot of the US now, I would wager that many folks are enjoying their remote start vehicles from the comfort of their warm home or work.

Your joking right ? For us Diesel owners that live in cold climates the remote starter helps warm up the motor instead of driving it to warm up. Diesels generally take a little while longer than a gasser to warm up , and driving them cold is hard on them and the mileage suffers.
