That trailer weights 900 pounds, so with 1,000 pounds of stuff, you are under the limit if it is 2,000 pounds. Keep in mind, most manufacturers rate towing for any extra weight - in other words, any think in the car other than the driver needs to be added to the weight as well, so if you are carrying 4 people and a bunch of stuff in the trunk, your towing capacity is reduced.
At the end of the day, towing anything but a light and empty trailer will cause the transmission to work harder, and run hotter than in normally does. Does that mean that it will break immediately after? Likely no. Does that mean if some transmission part that would have worn out at 250,000 miles in may now at 249,000 miles? Possibly. If you stay within the weight limits you'll likely be fine, but understand the car is working harder, adjust your driving for it.
What you want to do is have your car and trailer taken to the public scales and see how much you weigh. It is easy to load the trailer over the limit that your car can pull.
I am planning to tow the car using Car Carrier and the 16 foot Truck rented from Penske or Budget.
The whole rental comes to $820 (including Truck and Car Carrier) + Taxes + Insurance.
The total payload weight for the 16 foot truck is about 3400 lbs and in addition, I can carry the car that has 2300 lbs.
That way, I don't mess with the car, ending up spending $$$$ to the mechanic and auto parts.
