like the Buick Electra 225, there is something aggressively ominous, yet handsome and imposing about this car, tho the Electra is more like a shark whereas this is more like a....monster!!!

the Merc Marquis was just---handsome but nothing more, IMO

The first thing I noticed (and it may be because it is an old photo, possible scanned) is the car doesn't seem to have a really good shine. It almost looks old or dull.

But it is neat looking at an old gigantic car like that. Maybe 9 MPG too.

CRs tested this car. 8-16 in normal driving, 13 mpg on a 300 mile trip

Many of those old 1970's boats look the same to me.

Agreed. Not a fan of inefficiency. I was so happy when I finally got my mother out of the Lincoln brand.

Some of the least expensive cars one could buy back in the late 70s gas-crunch days were these types of behemoths. I bought one. 73 Chrysler Newport with two doors. I loved it for its comfort, but it did little for my image as a 20-something. I traded it for a 69 Camaro, which was more a young man's style, but it rode like a buckboard in comparison.

Looks ridiculous to me, same way those pants and hairdos do. To each their own, I suppose.
