I think it would be good to decide it was a random act of damage and not be so paranoid about who might hate you enough to damage your vehicle.

Maybe some fool thinks your van belongs to some ex boyfriend or something and they have just picked out the wrong van...

Did you ding another w door? Park too close to others? ... or (shudder) have any bumper stickers? It is possibly a random and/or stupid jerk...there are plenty of those everywhere.

Try the security camera suggestion...

Nope, I parked between a pole and an empty space.

There are many people out there that are so dang miserable that they feel the need to spread it. It kills them to see others not happy. Who knows, I've seen peoples cars get messed with for accidentally cutting someone off.

IMO, it's the only way some people have, to influence others or steer other peoples' lives in a negative direction. Same goes for road rage people.

That doesn't give anyone any reason to do anything stupid.

I'd just assume it was some kid with nothing else better to do and move on. If you want it to look good don't touch it up yourself unless you have an factory touch up paint and an air brush. If you just want rust protection DIY.

Could be a lot of reasons or none. You may have cut someone off or otherwise ticked them off while driving in and they followed you. You may have "offensive" bumper stickers (Obama or Romeny for example). You may drive a Honda and a union guy just lost his job making minivans for Chrysler. You may have parked too close to another car (maybe some time in the past). You may have ticked someone off while walking into or out of your office. there are a lo of possibilities.

It could be random. Many kids are vandals. They think it is funny to do costly damage to other people's things. It gives them a feeling of power. However usually such kids choose really nice fancy cars or cars that stand out to them for some reason. The only reason I can think of for them to target a minivan is they can hide behind it while keying. Is yours the only minivan usually in the lot? That would make it stand out.

Do you know whether you are the only one who got keyed?

That really stinks, it can be very costly to get repaired and you cannot just leave it because it will rust. Your insurance may pay for part of the repair cost. Sorry that happened to you. (unless you are a complete A hole driver on the freeway and someone followed you becasue of it, then i am maybe not sorry, although it still should not have happened, it is just hard to feel sorry)
