2003 Galant periodically I will try to start my car and nothing no clicking nothing. Almost immediately Ill try again and it starts week or two same thing. Please help.
Does the car lose all power when you turn the key? Do you know if your battery is good?
If all looks good then I would pretty much say its your ignition switch in the steering column. Theyre plastic, they wear out over time from jamming the key in and overturning they key.
and if or when you order this part.... Theres the cheap ones and theres the expensive ones. The cheap ones are prone to failure a lot sooner than the better ones.
And you know this, how?
Could be a bad solenoid, neutral safety switch, ignition switch, vats system fault..............
You need to do a little investigative work with a few simple tools, or it's nothing more wasting your and our time both on guessing games. We're not psychics.
Wow wasting your time and my time was not my objective. I was asking a question not making a statement about the starter. I came to this fourm because I don't know and with the hope I would be pointed in the right direction. You need to do a little investigative work with a few simple tool was a suggestion. My questions are what are they? Thanks Willie
When this happens, are there any other lights on, dash lights, dome light or is everything without power? These can be tricky to diagnose via the web until we get all the info.
If all power is lost, then battery connection issue is most likely. Key in, door open, no chimes, no dome light, nadda.
If power to the car is present, such as dome light, but no chime with key in ignition, possible bad ignition switch.
If power to car is present, and get chimes with key in ignition, turn key, but no clicking or anything, fault in the ignition circuit, including the switch.
If key is turned and and get the clicking of the starting solenoid, but no starter activity, possible bad starter.
These things suck when its intermittent. Since its intermittent, make a note of the symptoms. In the mean time, check the battery connections, ground connections, anything that looks loose or corroded. If you can, look up under that dash and slightly press on the connectors to make sure none came loose.
Good luck.
