Yeah, the conversion vans of the 70s. I remember going to the high school for May Day and seeing some of the custom jobs the students did. Jaws and Star Wars were two themes. That Jaws van was COOL.
I was a little kid back in the 70s. An older man I used to work with bought a 77 Dodge Van brand new, all stripped, and customized it with a waterbed, carpeted walls, and a bench along one side. His drunk friends were always throwing up because it was a column stick.
This was all before my time but I have an uncle that was in his early 20's in the late 70's who always tells me stories about the conversion van he had, it was painted to look like the scooby doo mystery machine except instead he wrote on it "The Good Times Machine" and it had a poker table, curtains and a bed inside. Oh and also it had a huge sticker plastered on the sides and back that read "When my vans a rockin you dont come a knockin" lol those sounded like good times to me
Graduating in 1979 I remember it well. A girlfriends dad had one of the factory custom ones. Had the scene on the sides with a sunset and ducks flying. LOL Stretch version with a bed in the back.
They were all over the place and I've often wondered what happened to them all. You rarely see one today. People rag on it today but really, the 70's were a lot of fun if you were below the age of major responsibilities.
