I need to buy a new GPS. I prefer one that has traffic reports. Anyone have recommendations?
Thanks in advance
Garmin has the best and most easy to use user interface. Dont rely on your cell phone only as a GPS, there will be times when you are in a area where you get no siganl and when that happens you will have no maps for data. This happened to me in the mountains and in Alabama going to Destin using Tmobile and i just drove blindly for 2 hrs hoping I was going the right way. But a Garmin or Tom Tom with Traffic make great backups when that happens.
Have you already evaluated Google Maps on your phone?
I've had a Tom-Tom for years and I like the interface and general usability.
Does Google maps offer turn-by-turn audio with multiple way points? I have been looking at GPS also, but if google maps can do this, I'll go that direction (pun intended).
Does anyone find the traffic warning really work? I find that by the time they get an accident reported , it is already cleared, or I am already in the middle of it. The other reports are generally self evident. "There is heavy traffic on all LA frewways" No S$#&, it is 5:30 the freeways are not moving at all. I can predict that even if I am 3000 miles away.

Turn by turn audio, yes. What is a multiple way point?

Just thinking, I'd bet a lot of these units are really cheap on Craigslist since everyone is going to their smartphone. Just look for free lifetime traffic.
Let's say you're driving home from work and your destination is home. Your first waypoint is a stop on the way home, say a liquor store to buy a few Bud talls. You get most of the way home and you need some more, you can find another liquor store (your second waypoint home) and pickup some Mickey's big mouth to hold you over until you get home.

Pawn shops are lousy with them too. The problem is, there are at least 50,0000 different brands and models. You have to do your homework before venturing forth because most pawn shop employees don't have a clue about anything. YMMV
that's why i have my garmin. my phone is dumber than a door nail.
Don't feel bad. Most peoples' phones are smarter than they are these days.
