I've enjoyed Cruze as taxi's in China and Singapore for a few yrs. They probably have spare tires, (which USA do not due to exhaust scrubber.)

The Hyundai diesel sedan is nearly identical to Cruze and MUCH more popular in Asia. (probably cheaper (?))

A manual tranny Cruze stationwagon would be nice.

Basically the same size as my B4V Passats (96-97). This spring I made 2 more diesel wagons by converting VR6 GLX wagons.

Just returned from a 4,000 mile trip. It wasn't so happy about towing (3) 500# vintage motorbikes (and 800# trailer) in mtn states (headwinds), but I still squeaked out 40 mpg overall. Down from my usual 52 mpg. I will build a fairing and shorten the tongue before my next trip.

The Cruze is a nice sized vehicle and should make a nice commuter. I have seen several tests quoting 50 mpg.

Maybe not. The GM Colorado diesel got its certs back in April. All that is needed now is ramping up production and that's suppose to start in the next week or so. Might see it as a January introduction.

I want to say the 6.7L diesel option in my f250 listed at a $13k option. I'm not 100% sure though.

I will say if it's really made to last 500k miles like you are saying that would be amazing. Even if I could keep it as my DD around 10 years reliably I would be happy.

I've recently averaged 17mpg on a tank and could do better if it was all highway. The power is incredible. It weighs so much but it just pulllllllls when you step on the gas.

On the full size 3/4 and 1 tons diesel option engine runs a cool 8k. That was a few years ago when I toyed with the idea of selling my old diesel and getting a new one. A new F350 crew dually was gonna run me almost 70k. The diesel option was 8k on the window sticker. I imagine a 3-4k premium on the 1/2ton diesels since they will most likely be v6
