Ditto.

Also, entire German thing is BS. And has little to do with EUROPE as a whole. Speed limits were introduced on autobahns. That's Germany. Not entire Germany is autobahns. There rest is moderately driven roads. Europe as a whole does not have autobahns and speed limits are draconian and much better watched/enforced than in the USA. EUROPEANS as a whole drive very little as most of it is public transportation and drivers are weekend warriors. Not to mention gas prices. I want to see average Francois taking on a trip from Orlando to LA in 3 days and making it on no doze and beer.
For what it is, in the USA, it is too easy to drive as country was built around roads. You go to Italy and drive in any of their cities.

Looks like the America bashing has made it here as well. Um, we have 300 million people. How many does Germany have?
Take the US between the 2 mountain ranges. Vast and flat with LONG straight roads. On my side of the country we have 95 going north to south, also long and monotonous. Hours of driving can make you tired and we regularly drive long distances here. On average we also drive a lot more over here as well. It is't uncommon over here for some to put 20 to 30,000 miles on a car in a year.

Personally really not concerned with poor motorcycle training rules, Most people involved in motorcycle accidents usually just kill themselves. With no crumble zones, seat belts, air bags or the protection of a metal cage, a serious accident on a cycle usually ends up in the death of the rider. It's truly a brave (or foolish) method of transportation, especially with all the other drivers on the road that are texting, shaving, putting on make-up, eating/drinking, it's a wonder they have any time at all to pay attention to the road.

Irrelevant. The accident death rate per 100,000 cars in Germany is half of what it is in the United States, they must be doing something better.

Slow speeds are inherently dangerous.

What I see a lot is drivers who try make a left even across a double-yellow.

German discipline and group thinking has it's virtues. And some vices.

I drove out of Barcelona and the speed limit was a reasonable 120 km/h (75 MPH) and traffic was zipping along at 140 km/h (87 MPH). But they had lane discipline and nobody was tailgating. If you want to talk about draconian speed limits, we have them here in the United States. Here in Scranton, we have 31 miles of I-81 with very little congestion, and yet is all posted at 55 MPH. Drive at that speed and it won't be long before somebody runs you off the road.

In Germany, you get lessons and learn how to park from front, back, left, right, ... they give you tricks on how to park into tiny spaces.
Also, you learn in the classroom about the dangers of the blind spot very well. You learn to calculate how long it takes for you from braking until a complete stop. The differences when driving on wet street and dry street.

The tests here are a joke and I find it actually dangerous to let juveniles just drive with zero knowledge.

Even worse with the motorcycle - a written test and you can ride a motorcycle for a year until the real road test. That is super scary!

Also, I think the TEXTING and calling while driving is not that common in Europe. The laws here would have to be a bit stricter.

The texting, shaving, and eating is much more difficult if you have a manual transmission like most cars in Europe. So that solves the problem before it arises

Thanks to technology, CD changers will be not too much longer needed. I think in 10 years, they might not be in cars anymore.
Really haven't seen anyone not take drivers Ed here at least here in decades. Its required to get drivers license at earlier age now. To get a motrocycle license you have to take a approved course also. Doesn't mean tho you will always be a better driver and obey the laws or not drink and drive.

All that has to be done here in NC is to pass the tests, for both a DL and a motorcycle endorsement. It's all so basic that it's scary.

I've driven in a few European countries..It's almost impossible to compare them to the U.S.

Hard to get into a fatal wreck when the roads are so narrow and everyone is driving 20 mph.

Dumb ass kids can't afford gas in Europe. Very, very, very few of them on the road. Make it so there are very, very, very few teens on the road in the U.S. and then compare numbers.

In America, when we think of European cars, we think of BMW's, Mercedes' and Porsches. But then you get there and everyone is driving these little tiny boxes that, again, seem to go about 20 mph.
