Considering the Chrysler L body is what Carroll Shelby decided to modify back in the day (damn I miss my GLHS )....I think that's a pretty easy question to answer

I never knew what a POS the Citation was until I was feeling nostalgic one day and read up on it. One of my best friend's dad was (is? not sure if still living) an engineer for Detroit Diesel Allison (Now Detroit Diesel Corp) in the 80's . As a subsidiary of GM he always had the latest and greatest from Chevy and for a while had a Citation X-11. We LOVED that car and I never heard a bad word about it.

Nothing like the GLH (Goes Like Hell) and the GLHS (Goes Like Hell Some more).

I had an '80 ((?) Cant remember the year) Omni and it was a fun car to drive until the timing bet broke and we learned what an "interference motor" meant. It was certainly more fun than my friend's grandparents' '78 Chevette.

i actually don't know the answer. i know the Chevette was considered a POS but i didn't know if the Omni/Horizons were too. i worked for a rental car company in 86 and i thought the Horizon i drove was severely fun to drive and very powerful

Haha...this POS brought memories of my very first car I bought on my own, a 1983 Ford EXP. Now, talk about a real POS! Still, I loved every minute of driving that car even though it burned as much oil as it did gas!

EXP. The "sports car" version of the Escort. LOL.

i'm kinda surprised as i swear my old v6 citation had a lot of torque steer, unless they maybe did something with the shafts on the x11 to help reduce it? I did have a classmate with a red x11, actually a pretty sharp car back then.
I will say with the weight of that v6 up front, it went thru a lot of snow compared to some of the smaller/lighter 4cyl fwd cars we had back then.

I had an 80 Citation (Built April of '80 so one of the later ones of that year. Factory ordered with the HO V6 that was in the X11. Great car most of the times. It could really scream up ramps to the Interstate with the front wheels pulling it up around the curve.

Only problem was the brakes. The balance between front and back wasn't good and if the back end wasn't weighed down (like if it only had 1/2 a tank of gas) then even on dry pavement with moderate to heavy braking the back end would brake loose and it could be al over the road. Chevy tried to fix it, I had the car in the shop every 4-5000 miles for brake work under warranty for the entire 55,000 miles I owned it. I think they replaced every part at least twice (except the parking brake cable they only replaced that once) The Chevy regional rep knew me by name. Finally in 1984 my wife refused to ride in it or allow the kids in it any longer. So we traded it. Ended up with a Caprice Wagon. When we found out our third child was on the way a few months later we really made use of the extra space!

our 80 CItation (purchased in 8/79) had non power frt disc brakes. never had those brake issues you mention but the pwr steering developed a dead spot in its later years. it also had stalling issues when the car was 3 or 4. i remember going to the dealer several times in 1983

i also remember the term polyglycoat which i think was rust protection or some kind of special finish protection
