We did that 2 years ago (that was jacks, jack stands, gloves, etc)
I liked that it was easy and he got a lot of cool items but I just want something hes going to be like "wow, that was really thoughtful"
His bday present where I got that response was for: The complete Book of Porsche 911 since thats the car he was looking at buying. Now hes looking at a CTS-V. I guess I could get a comprable book, though I think he knows every inch of that car already.
I can highly recommend the CTS-V. It is a joy to drive and provides everything you could ever realistically want. Plus it blends in very nicely and does no attract too much attention. Be certain to get one with the Recaro seats option. The standard seats are awful.
I have the perfect gift, but it might not appeal to you as a woman. My ex and I had this same discussion every year at Christmas and birthdays, and I told her I wanted a gift certificate for my favorite car place, like Summit Racing or Speedway. She always felt that was impersonal, but I tried to explain to her that it enabled me to get EXACTLY the gift I wanted and when I wanted it.
My Sons are very good about understanding this because every year I get gift certificates for those places and they also pay for my AAA membership for another year. I would not appreciate any other gift as much. (Well, there was that year she wore the Cheerleaders outfit, but that is another story )
I bet if you ask him he will tell you the same thing.
Its only an hour and some change away from us. Seems like a cool idea. The one closer by doesnt have any dates listed for 2014 yet. I was originally looking at the exotic car experience in Concord.
There was a Groupon for the traveling version of that to be run at CMP. The insurance doubled the cost of the 2 car, 6 lap driving experience, so my buddies and I backed out. Even though they were exotics, we couldn't justify the ~$30+ a minute cost, not including the two hour roundtrip to the track.
Has he done an actual driving school? I didn't read all of the posts.

Don
I have no problem with gift certificates. I'm very practical, so I'd much rather be "forced" to spend someone else's money on something I want than to smile and accept something I really don't.
BTW-don't even bother telling the cheerleaders outfit story unless you post pics.
I want to marry you myself - and I'm a woman You win wife of the year, seven years in a row.
What about a track day somewhere? There are a lot of different racing schools/"driving experiences," from NASCAR to rally racing. Or you could rent an exotic for a day, if he's into them.
I am unmarried now but i like riding and race i am going to riding every day
