This is in D.C. but it is a problem everywhere. Do we forget? Are we just not aware? or do we not think it is important?

I see very few major violations here. Just some people with tires over the line a little bit.

Its funny how cyclists want drivers to respect bike lanes. Yet very few cyclists show respect when there is NOT a bike lane, and they pass a stopped column of traffic in the gutter on the right side!

You must learn to live with it. Motorcyclists get no respect from auto drivers either. Motorcycles are more able to cope with auto traffic than bicycles though. I still contend bikes belong on sidewalks. Here we have bike trails all along our river system yet bikers want more. Now 4 lane heavy traffic streets are being reduced to two lanes with bike lanes. When will this madness end?

There was this biker who was in front of me with the ability to move over and let me by but they didn't. Once I finally was able to pass I revved my engine loudly by downshifting and got a nice middle finger as a response. Lol

Like many other groups..."give them an inch they take a mile".

Nothing too terrible. Still, totally unnecessary. But what can you do? DC is a douchey part of the country.

I will always cut bike riders a wide berth, and drive safely around them. However, I expect them to obey traffic laws and be good "sharers of the road." The stop sign applies equally to both of us.

I think the bigger problem is cyclists who don't respect the boundaries of vehicles around them. Almost on a daily basis there is a group of idiots cycling too far over onto the road and every vehicle has to partially obstruct the neighboring lane to avoid hitting them. Between that and running lights I have zero respect for them. Have some decency people!

BTW, I cycle for fun on the weekends but I take advantage of bike paths that are not shared with other vehicles.

I noticed a lot of stop sign violations by the bicyclist. Most of the motor vehicle issues were driving on the lane line rather than actually blocking the lane. The most egregious examples I saw of blocking the bike lane were the result of intersection traffic backing up. Since the more dangerous action would be to stop in the middle lane until the left lane cleared, I would block the bick lane as well. Seems to be common sense.

The incidence of motorists not respecting bike lanes is miniscule when compared to that of cyclists running stop signs and traffic signals, cutting around stopped vehicles, etc. If you call attention to this, they usually "flip you the bird"; and if they should be hit, they usually know an ambulance-chaser who likley subscribes to their particular version of political resentments. It's a case of "the pot and the kettle".
