I have a 96 Suburban that I bought about six months ago. I've never filled it up. I've put $50 max at the gas station and that gave me 3/4 on the fuel gauge. Owners manual says it's a 40 gallon tank. Some folks have told me it's 35 gallons. I'll never know for sure since I never plan on finding out unless someone else is paying for it. On average I get about 150 or so miles on about 10 gallons.

My daily has a 20 gallon tank, not bad for distance, but my hot rod has a 10 gallon tank and gets 10 mpg on the highway.......not so good. Everything I own takes premium, so that makes it even worse.

I remember being told years ago that Chevy sized the tank so that with the optional engine in the car you could reliably get 250 miles per tank of gas. That meant that at one point the vega/monza/(whatever else it was named) that had a V8 as an option could be had with a tank that allowed the 4 cylinder model to go 500+ miles.

I'm not sure of the 'official' size of my cars tanks now I just know the max I have put in them after the 'low gas' signal has come on. My little commuter takes 12.7, the sedan takes 16, and the compact pickup takes 17.5. Both cares have modern electronics that tell me how much cruising range i have left, The truck just has the guage and a 'low fuel that comes on with about 30-50 miles to go. I have never run these cars out of gas

Gas capacity=18.5 gallons
Cruising range (at highway speeds)=at least 450 miles--although I fill up after ~375 miles.

What is the difference if you put $50 in 2X a month vs. just filling it once? Same price, same amount of gas?

I had an employee years ago that put $10 in every day, when I inquired what is the difference he replied it takes too long to fill (vs. 7 stops a week @ $10 each stop).....

12.1 gallons, and if I were to run it until bone dry, almost 460 miles. I wouldn't buy a car with a range less than 400 miles.
