the DUI may go off ones DMV record in time but since its generally a crime it still shows up on a criminal report. i always am curious, can employers where driving is involved still take adverse action even tho the DUI is technically off ones DMV record even tho it is still on ones criminal record?

Until I saw you're in Jersey, I would have guessed you were in Louisiana. It's practically SOP in some parts of Louisiana.

Child support and DUI are the kiss of death. I just don't understand why booze is allowed to be consumed outside the home. Then again as mentioned it's about money. Just ban the sale at outside establishments and if people drive drunk lower the hammer.

How about drinking responsibly instead. Why shouldn't I be able to have a glass of wine when out to diner just because some can't control themselves.

The guy had money (per his company) and they used it to get out of it.
I'm not talking about your money though... it's common knowledge in this country that having money can get you off on everything from DUI to murder...

What I was talking about is the entire DUI process is a money making scheme for the STATES... As said, why else are people roaming the streets with 4 and 5 DUIs?

Because it's anywhere from $5k to $20k every time they get caught... that's why.

Varies from state to state. In NJ it's a traffic violation providing there were no injuries or death. It will show on your license abstract. I would think an employer can use it against you.

Personal responsibility is not the thinking of the day for many.

I have no idea what happens in my state of Tennessee but I have seen police reports of these drunks getting their 7th, 8th or 9th DWI offense. Apparently whatever they do to the drunks it doesn't do much to discourage future offences.

Is a field sobriety test enough to convict someone of DUI or DWI? I thought the laws were written mostly around a BAC or at least a Breathalyzer?
