We are trying to decide - the Ford Edge 4 cylinder turbo or the Santa Fe Sport 4 cylinder turbo - they both have fairly decent mpg and almost drive just like a 6 - that's why I like them. Similar in size and price -

seems like we have been car shopping forever.....we have tried everything and finally have it down to these two....

Thanks for any input.

If everything about them is similar or equal I'd go with the Hyundai. The warranty to me would be the deciding factor.

We have a 2014 Escape and have rented the Edge. If I wanted something a little bigger i would go with the edge. It was pretty impressive but for the money we found the Escape more suitable for us. We looked at the Santa Fe and the Tucson. The Fords just seemed more solid, higher tech, and just looked better.

I liked the, new, hyundais, until a friend of mine bought a Santa Fe and had to rebuilt motor after 10k miles (covered) and now his transmission went out. Could be his bad luck but I just don't trust hyundais anymore. If a car breaks down when new imagine once it's older and out of warranty..

Neither.

The turbo is unnecessary/worthless in both vehicles.

Without the turbo a 4 cylinder engine would not pull either vehicle up a hill. Almost all gas engines will be using a form of turbo before long, because they allow a lot more power with a smaller engine, so better gas mileage. My 1.6 ecoboost Escape 4WD gets the same mileage as my little old Escort 2.0 but has almost double the horsepower.
