Name my vehicles?

Absolutely . . . always have with license plates to prove it and probably always will.

1986 Jeep CJ-7 is BUMMER (hmmmmm, same as my screen name).

2005 Chevrolet SSR is DOOPHUS.

I've always named my cars, starting with my very first, a 1976 Gremlin named "The Brown Beast". I've had two "Black Beasts", a 1989 Mazda B2200 pickup, and a 2008 Subaru Forester. I named my 2001 Hyundai Elantra "Wimp" because it was. My 2012 Subaru Forester is "Rudolph" ... because it's red and goes dashing through the snow. I also dress it up with a red nose and antlers for the Christmas season.

All the vehicles since the Mazda have also been alternatively known as the "Treatmobile" since I always have treats for the dogs at the park where my dogs have roam.

The War Generation in my family nicknamed their cars. I do too. My X-gen and Y-gen kids have picked it up.

Since none of us has a yacht.

Mom's 1986 560SEL is the Bismarck.

DH's 2004 Sierra long bed regular cab was the Dorky Farm Truck, now it's just Big Boy.

My 2005 Sierra Z71 extended cab is the Sexy Black *****.

Mom's 2007 745il is the Countmoblie, named for my late stepdad.

A friend of mine names his care, he has Stella, Stacy, and Steve.

Me? Not really, until I got this. I dubbed it "the banana" for obvious reasons. I tend to just say "the Mazda" or "the truck" depending on what it is.

My mother always called her car (different cars over the years) "Bessie". She was born in 1930, so this isn't something that "only younger people" do.

I name my cars, but I only started doing that a couple of cars ago. Several of my friends name theirs as well. I'm almost 50 and my friends with named cars are in their 30s, 40s and 50s, if that's a useful data point.

My 1972 Triumph spitfire was called "Li'l Spit".
My old Fiat Hatchback was called "The P-O-S"
The current one, a 1998 Toyota Camry 6 cyl that keeps on truckin' is called, affectionately, "The Grapes", as in The Grapes of Wrath, cuz it's hauled more stuff and put on more miles than any sedan ought to ever have to do!

I've had more vehicles but those are the only ones I ever named.
