The terminal at the top of your first picture is the positive. HOWEVER...I am not there and can't guarantee that I am not wrong based solely on pictures you posted on the internet. It's probably worth getting a second, in person opinion. If no such person is available then my advice and that of others is the best you are going to get....but don't blame us if your car blows up.
I cant see the symbols on the battery on my car...There is no space between the Danger/Poison sign and the terminals. It may be behind but the wires maybe covering it...I tried to take them out but the nuts are screwed hard. Do the pictures give anymore confidence? Thanks All
That is a 35 group size battery. In the original pic, it is the top terminal. All batteries with the same group size are configured the same way. In a 35 group size, if the side with the posts is facing you, the Positive + or Red post is on the right .
Be careful with certain sizes though such as 51 and 51R, which are different group sizes, and the posts are reversed.
Also like adyn said, the positive and negative are usually embossed on the battery.
Another way to tell, which is certainly not 100%.. The positive terminal tends to corrode more. Certainly appears that, while not bad, the top terminal is corroded more heavily than the bottom. Coupled with the fact that the positive is generally bigger as well, which is also the top terminal.. If you were stuck out in the middle of nowhere and couldn't ask people on this forum and didn't have a voltmeter with you.. You could probably roll the dice on it and be right.
I need to jump start my 2000 Toyota Camry. Can you Please tell me which terminal is positive and negative. Cant see the signs on the battery. The battery is Super Start Premium 35-72J
Thanks
Ok I could say something snarky, like "touch each one, and when you die, you've found the positive terminal." But in all seriousness, if you need to ask this question, drop the jumper cables, and slowly step away from the battery. You should not be messing around in there. You should be calling roadside assistance, AAA, a tow truck, a family member, or anyone else.

Red is positive. Also should have large black + stenciled on it
s cover next to positive terminal..
One way to check is pot a jump start cable on one terminal. Then strike the other end of the wire on the chassis somewhere away from any gas lines. If there is a spark the terminal is POSITIVE. If no spark it is Negative.
Once you have figures this out take the connectors off the terminals and clean them with a terminal brush (available from a parts store for a few bucks). Then take some RED nail polish and paint the end of the Positive terminal. It is a good idea to do this with a new battery. That will save trouble the next time you have to jump start the thing. Take the car to a reliable garage and have the mechanic check out the battery condition and charging system.
