I'm sorry to say that mine is an Odyssey--minivan. It's ugly, but so dependable. It has almost 150,000 miles on it and the mechanic says it will go forever....

My Accord sucks. I hate it. It's killing my back. I plan to sell it A.S.A.P. and then I will buy a car that I like and forget everything else...

Drive through Texas on your cross-country trip and I'll trade you my Odyssey for it.

Seriously, though, I'm sorry it's hurting your back and you hate it. Do you know what it is about the seat that hurts?

I read in the other thread where you said the pain is between your shoulder blades. Can you raise or lower the steering wheel and get any relief? Does adjusting the seat up/down/forward/back make a difference?

No, I'm cool. I got a back brace, so shoulder pain is gone. Thanks.

Accord all the way, worst car i ever had was a jetta that i bought from my cousin and it was a nightmare, one thing after another and after driving an accord that had almost 100,000 more miles it was still a much better car with better handling, ride quality and reliability.Prepare to obtain a good vw mechanic if you buy a used jetta especially if it has not been meticulouly maintained.Dont know about the new ones.

I personally wouldn't even consider the Accord. Just don't like the exterior styling at all. But for the average person that wants good mileage and no problems it seems like the way to go.
I'm a diesel dork so the Jetta was the way to go for me. I love my modded little 1.9 TDI (92hp to 140hp) , and the 48-50mpg, with the suspension improvments I've made it is also a fun little car to drive. Now that being said I wouldn't suggest a TDI to someone that does not want to learn how to work on their own vehicle. There aren't a lot of places that can reliable work on the TDI's. Now if it wasn't for the diesel I wouldn't be driving the VW. I also don't care for the latest body style on the Jetta's either. I prefer the 99.5-2003 's (Mk4)

While the Accord is the epitome of mediocrity it will almost certainly be far more reliable than any VW made in the last 15 years. I'll be hauling the hacked scrap remains of an '01 Passat to the recycling yard tomorrow morning. No, it was never in an accident but after 100k miles and month after month of expensive component failures throughout the vehicle... the engine finally blew. We decided to try and cut our losses and part-out / scrap the vehicle. Not saying this isolated incident is the source of my apprehension, but I have heard more than a dozen stories via word of mouth that their VW/Audi experience has been rather un-fruitful and very expensive.

That said, the VW is easily a much more fun vehicle to operate than the Accord IMO.
