Ok,I know most car leases require you to pay for maintainence on a leased car.
Last month when I was getting an oil change at the Nissan dealership when the mechanic said that I need to have my leased car serviced. The cost was $400. The oil changes are free
However,my contract states that service and oil changes are included in lease.
The only thing it says I have to pay for are tire service and brake service.
Can a dealership go back on their word,even if it'd in writing?
This isn't a cheap lease. I prepaid for extra miles per year(8,000 more miles that the standard 10,000)
Have a look at your owners manual, and it will tell you what is required at 15K miles. Which in most cases isn't much, there may not even be an entry for that interval.
The lease is likely through a 3rd party, and it's not a dealership issue anyway. They are looking to gouge you for $400 for nothing in particular. I went through this at the Hyundai dealer, where I had purchased the lifetime oil change and they used every oil change to try to sell me BS services.......$169 for a 12K mile service, which was not even in the manual. They completely made it up.
Go by the manual, and if there is something required any facility can perform a basic service.
Remember that the dealership doesn't make their money from selling new cars. There's not much money in that. It's the service department that is the cash cow.

I leased a few cars. What specific service are you referring to?
One of the BEST thing about leasing cars is there is minimal maint. on leased car....I just do oil changes for the life of the lease.....only once I paid to change the wipers. Almost everything is covered by the factory warranty
If you go into another lease when your current car is up, they don't even bother looking at the maint history!! It matter...maybe when you turn it back to the leasing company.
If you're a woman beware, these dealers and service people smile broadly when they see you come in for service. They figure women know nothing about cars and maintenance and use scare tactics to rob you.
Before I met my wife she used to get taken all the time at the dealer for unnecessary work.
That $400.00 sounds like a typical rip-off.
I just turned in my Nissan Altima but it was leased from the Nissan dealer. I paid for my oil changes and tire rotations. Other then when my battery died at the very end of my lease everything else was covered under warranty. I used to go to other places then the dealer for oil changes. 400 dollars seems very high.
My dad taught me when suggested a service at the dealer or where ever ask what will happen if you don't get it. I have now done that and they are surprised and often will say it is recommended but nothing will happen. I am a younger female and unfortunately some will take advantage.
