Very true, but they ARE cool to customize! Some turn them out as low riders, and sleepers too. With new paint, nice shocks, wheels and rubber, and low flow mufflers and a tuned 5.0 MPFI 5.0 V8 you'd have a roadtrip ship!
CarCraft, of which I subscribe to, had a couple good articles about purchasing a surplus cop car, including the crownvic or maybe a caprice, and modifying them a couple years ago...eventually turning it into a decent although a bit heavy strip car. People might be able to find it online.
What you may not understand, is many of them are rebuilt and customized as show cars and ratrods and look pretty awsome when they're done! If you ever get a chance to drive one after it's tuned properly and given some TLC, they can ride like a dream and fly like a rocket. When the spotlights and antennas are gone and nice wheels and tires added, they look MUCH different! Truly a poor working man's sports car.
Sports car? Really?
I'm not sure a Marauder or Impala SS could be considered a sports car!

That's it...I remember them saying they found a bullet in the car.
There were follow-up articles as well for the build up in later editions, not sure if the rest made it online or not.
