The eyelash post got me thinking about things added to a vehicle's exterior that actually had real function. Example, LeBra. The one I use to have also had a bug screen. It protected the nose from damage from rocks and bugs (look up love bugs). Today people are more likely to install deflectors on hoods and windows. Any other things you can think of?
Bras are stupid, they ruin the paint, add no additional protection. When I had my Blazer, it had those window, and hood visor things, I took them off, it also had side steps, and mudflaps, removed. I don't see the point of extra emblems, or non-functioning "decorative" things, as scoops, and ventiports. I went through the dual blade wipers fad, that worked no better than standard. i do like those stick on blindspot mirrors, and having an audible back up alarm.
I've used door edge guards on several of my vehicles in the past, but haven't on our latest 4 or 5. The dealer put color keyed ones on my daughter's Nissan Rogue that don't look bad at all. They are almost the exact color as the body, so they don't stick out like the black or chrome ones.
Most add ons are cosmetic, and bad cosmetics at that! I like to stick to stock upgrades from higher level models on my cars if anything.

When I had the bra, they didn't have products to safely remove these things. At that time, the best way to remove them was a plastic pot scrubber. Some here spray their car with Pam non-stick cooking spray when the love bugs begin swarming. They swarm twice a year.
The bra was one of the worst inventions for a car. It literally worked as sandpaper to eat the finish off a vehicle. I run the hood deflector and window deflectors on my truck primarily to stop rock chips on the hood and to be able to crack the windows in rain for ventilation.
I also tint my windows pretty dark but aside from liking the cosmetic aspect and the lower interior temps, I am light sensitive so that cuts back on the glare I have to deal with. I also have a bedcover on my truck bed that allows me to haul things and keep them dry, while being able to pop it off quickly if I need to haul something too large to fit under it.

I dealt with Love Bugs for years. You can remove them safely using bleche white and a lot of elbow grease. You just need to wash it thorougly afterwards and rewax the areas you sprayed there. I would typically just keep some spray wax on hand and respray it after every wash.
