Someone advertised a car on Autotrader at a great price and stated that it came from an auction and that he purchased it with "side damage with salvage title." He then stated the car was fixed all up with original OEM parts. This is the car:
Obviously a bit more than "side damage". It occurs to me that it could have sustained engine damage, chassis damage, and more. The price is obviously very very good.
Would you go anywhere near that car under the circumstances?
No, the discounted price is not worth the risk. If the price is the issue, I would look at an older RDX/MDX as opposed to settling for a wrecked one.

About a year ago while considering buying a Salvage Titled Vehicle, my research uncovered some surprising "negatives."
Thanks to reporting resources such as CarFax and AutoCheck and regardless of the repair quality, not only does that title designator remain with the vehicle for life, there is also an issue with "diminished" value.
Also, under some circumstances, insurance companies are reluctant to cover any vehicle with such a title and if they do, the pay-off could be upwards to 50% less due to the title status.
The damage is greater than I would accept for a salvage vehicle. I have owned a couple salvage cars in the past, but both were rear collisions, while the engine and all the important stuff was up front. They were repaired professionally, taken down to the frame, and new parts bolted on. In cases like that, they can be a good deal.
