Personally I just rev my 4 banger up to 5500rpm if I need to get on quick (or go up a big hill).
Even reved up to 6k, which is about where the power falls off a cliff on my car, you'd still never confuse it for being fast though. I'm used to it by now, but there's definitely to something even a pretty tame V6 like in a Camry or Accord offers.

You sound broke.

I have a 550hp V10 because I can afford it. Maybe someday you can afford something better than an I4

Many people are quite happy with I4's even though they can afford more. Most people could care less about raw power as long as they can get from point A to point B comfortably and modern I4's do this just fine.

Why do people pay more for V6 or V8 when I4 meets their needs?

Because after buying an I4 they smack themselves on the forehead and say "I coulda had a V8!"

Let's see how that stupid civic does in the hills on long grades with 4 passengers and a trunk full of stuff. I've passed those up and they really struggled to maintain speed or reaccelerate to the flow of traffic.
If it's just me and another person putting around town it's fine. But how about a soccer mom with a team of kids and gear.

nothing worse or uglier than wheels larger than 18" on anything, especially the designs they have today.

Why is it stupid? It's just metal, plastic, wiring and electronics much like any other vehicle. It doesn't think nor does it need to. When folks resort to calling inanimate objects stupid (particularly when its an automotive appliance that is considered fairly good at its job by much of the public and media) it's generally a testament of how simple and small minded that person is because they aren't capable of expressing themselves properly.

Why do people pay more for Prime Rib when ground chuck will meet their needs?

Life isn't all about needs. Sometimes, you want what you want, and I say this as someone who drives a four-cylinder.

Simply put - because, though an I4 may meet their NEEDS, it doesn't meet their WANTS. Today's four-cylinder engines are fine for pretty much all applications, but some people want a car with more giddyup.
