I'd like a compartment that can be refrigerated (as a standalone option or standard) on all cars. Only a few cars have that now. We often have to stop and pick up some medications that can't go above a certain temperature, and I don't like having to plan our route so that the pharmacy is last on the route.

I would also like to have more customizable seating options. We are all built very differently from one another, and I might like a particular car except that I hate its seats, and would just like to upgrade those, for example.

A truly "smart car" that detects a distracted driver by having a sensor array mounted around the front windshield and when it senses the driver's eyes consistently moving down, hands not on the steering wheel etc... it simply reduces speed and self steers to the safest location - sort of like when you have a PC related issue and the tech specialist remotes into your PC.

After the second time this type of incident occurs with the same driver the seatbelt starts choking them and the seat back abruptly shoves them forward ramming them into the steering wheel or dashboard. While this occurs a robotic voice message says the following: "Due to your inconsideration of other human beings while driving on public roadways, you have been deemed unfit to drive. You will now walk the remainder of your trip. Any physical injuries incurred from you being distracted are your own fault and are to serve as a reminder that driving is an activity which requires your undivided attention."

Seriously, I, like another commenter would like to see a 'de-featured version' without all the excessive electronic gadgetry. The modular idea is great and I'd like a durable "Mule" drive platform designed which would allow people to change the exterior design by simply reconfiguring the cosmetic exterior chassis as needed (when possible) to physically alter the appearance.

No Plastic,
No computers
Manual windows
Manual tranny
Diesel. (About 100yrs overdue)

1967 was about 'optimal'... no emissions and minimal 'gadgets'. (But already too much Plastic...). Don't need to worry about how someone in 2064 will restore a 2014 model... Even those left in storage... the plastic will crumble and splay / crack. (Marker lights, door handles, body trim, bumpers... not ez to re-create in your garage)

I enjoy the following; low Maint improvements during the last 100 yrs.
Power steering
Power brakes
sport suspension and tires
pressure coolant
Climate control (not required in PNW)
Electric wipers vs manual / vacuum.
Lighting
Safety restraints (I have a nasty scar from being thrown out if a 'hook-over-the-front-seat' booster chair) Radio knob implanted in forehead, makes for ez tuning! and slightly twisted thinking.

Flamethrowers. They tried it in South Africa by some random dude as an anti-theft device but it never caught on. It's high time that I get to roast people at will.

I see a couple of others agree with me about the basic model. The stripped down version was good enough for years and is less junk to maintain. What happened to that car/truck.
When did everyone start thinking their everyday drivers were supposed to be on a par of Rolls-Royce as far as luxury is concerned? They want their home entertainment systems at their fingertips and GPS units to tell them how to get from A-B. Ever read a map?

The one that really chaps me is the pickup truck. How many own one and use it for what it was meant to do? Carpeted floors, leather seats, fancy trim and other Cadillac appointments don't apply when knee deep in mud or greasy to the elbows.

U-turn signals. Occasionally it seems it would be helpful to have a way to signal to other drivers that you are making a u-turn so they don't get too mad at waiting behind you. Like if you'd have time to make a left in front of oncoming traffic, but not time to make a u-turn, or don't have room to fully pull out into the intersection to accommodate the wider turn radius, or a car tries to make a right hand turn from the opposing side and blocks you.
