I had a 1983 280zx. It was an amazing car. Loved it. Still one of the best cars I have ever owned, but might choose my Audi A4. Goes to show you how slow cars have progressed, but the Audi is better. AWD and over 30 mpg on the highway in comfort and a 50/50 weight distribution is hard to beat. I think my next car is going to be a Cayman.

My neighbor in college owned a 1971 240Z. He replaced the six cylinder with a Chevrolet small block LT1 of the same time period. Even with lowered compression, that car was a blast to drive in a straight line.

Never owned one, but three close friends did:

1) High school GF had a 1975 red truck with shell, gotta love that! It was an automatic and so, so under powered. But it was fun.
2) best friend had a 76 truck that he lowered and had traction bars on (lol). Spent many hours cruising the Southern California beaches in that truck. It looked good.
3) Friend had a 200 roadster, fun to drive and fun to ride in. I remember he was always having trouble with the dual carbs. I still have a reminder of that car in a 2" scar on my arm from when we rolled it into a canyon. No serious injuries other than a cut. We were very lucky.

I never owned a Datsun either but the B210 was very popular in my grade school days, as a few teachers had 'em. I still remember the old commercial jingle from the early '70s: " Drive a Datsun, then decide."

I had one with a 350 in it. It had a whole lot more power with the V8 and the L28 weighs about the same as the 350, so no loss in cornering.

Geez.. what a bittersweet memory is my long gone '72 Datsun 240Z!
It had deep-dish mag wheels, a beautiful bright lime-yellow paint-job, and fit me like a glove.
It drove like a dream but ended in a nightmare as it was swiped 6-weeks later from my underground garage spot in Lefrak City. Never saw it again.
I could not face the prospect of losing it again so I got a TR6 in dark-brown,... meh, a totally forgettable electrical pos in comparison. (Not sure why I bought it, really.)

Now I have aged and so have my dreams but a Lexus IS 350 or Nissan Q50 may be on the horizon.
Too bad I really want an Audi S5.

I had a 75 B210. I think I could have out run that little Datsun in a race.

My parents had a '77 B210, dark blue hatchback. I remember going from NJ to my aunt's house in Washington DC in it and when my parents traded it in for a new 1987 Nissan Sentra.
