I just can't get over the fact that many posters here are acting defending and excited over a 4cyl mustang. I'm impressed with ford's ecoboost engines just NOT in a Mustang. It's like oil and water to me. Just doesn't go. It takes away from the true characteristics of the Mustang!
I'm looking forward to the new Mustang with the 300+HP turbo four. I'm thinking it will be fast and well balanced and would make a very nice convertible. I had a couple of fast V-8 Camaros back in the late 60s, when I was young. I got that monkey off my back.

I'll take a 91 Foxbody/notchback with the 5.0 anyday. Car came stock 225hp/300ft- lbs tq which can easily be worked to put out over 300hp. Not to mention a curb weight of only 2700lbs whereas the new 4cyl version is expected to clock in at around 3500lbs according to C&D.

The original Mustang was originally only available with a 6, then a weak 260 cid V8. That true characteristic? A 305 hp (400 after a mild tune) turbo Mustang will have great, fast, mustang genes. Along with excellent balance and the IRS, it should be the Euro sports car of the bunch.

Any true enthusiasts will tell you that the 5.0 versions is what truly defined the Mustangs. *
Also, what's this I hear about turbo equipped vehicles needing to idle for a few minutes before u can even shut the car off? Sounds like a p.i.t.a to me.

And any "true enthusiast" knows the very basics about turbos. Even my 8 year old niece knows how invalid both statements are, why, and how to explain how a turbo operates including the cooling of the unit.
Its pretty funny to watch people look down on others in regards to a topic when they themselves do not even have a basic understanding of said topic.

my 300hp v6 'stang is quicker then some of the small block v8's i had in the 70's; that said i dont view it as a performance car. A nice cruiser that offers some fun when i want it, while getting me near to or at 30 mpg? Yep. And that's why we bought it.
Could have had a v8, but since i'm not tracking the car and i prefer to keep my spotless driving record, we skipped on getting a gt.
I'm on a number of Mustang forums and even they don't bash the V6 models as badly as this thread does
