A driverless car sounds like something straight out of a futuristic sci-fi film. It looks pretty cool, hopefully this will become a reality on a larger scale sometime within the next 5-10 years. I would buy one of those.

As a car enthusiast, I like to be behind the wheel of a performance oriented car with a manual transmission and be in control of the car...to me, that is what makes driving fun.

However, I would LOVE to have this type of self-driving car to commute back and forth to work in on occasion, especially in less than perfect weather (rain, snow). These types of conditions are more stressful to drive in..so yeah Google...bring it on!!

For commuting to work, and long trips it would be great.

I think its ugly, small, impracticable, and I would rather drive my self.

This is made to order for Disney. Looked like they were on a tour of Disney World. Let's see how many people put their lives in the hand of this thing. The only driverless car I trust is a train.

I think it is great for all those who can't drive due to physical disabilities.

I really like them

- I'd feel safer having these on the road instead of vehicles entirely operated by humans. These cars have a backup brake and steering system in case 1 fails. Also, from one article
Quote:
We’ve improved our software so it can detect hundreds of distinct objects simultaneously—pedestrians, buses, a stop sign held up by a crossing guard, or a cyclist making gestures that indicate a possible turn. A self-driving vehicle can pay attention to all of these things in a way that a human physically can’t — and it never gets tired or distracted. Google’s new driverless car has no brakes or steering wheel
- Also, to add to the safety element the max speed is 25 mph with a plastic windshield and foam in the front of the car.

- The cars in the video look very nice, comfortable, and practical. I haven't seen the BMW or Toyota cars yet.

- I love the idea of getting in a car & getting time to read or relax similar to when I'm on the bus minus the massive congestion.

- Bring them on. The sooner, the better.

I love the technology and ideas behind this. It's revolutionary. Driverless cars will work best when there are many of them on the road together. Perhaps in some areas separate lanes can be devoted to them so that they can travel together in the most optimal way.

As far as how the car looks, this is a proof of concept to show off the technology. It would be a waste to make the car anything more than is needed to show off the concepts.

When these are finally produced for consumers I hope that they are not available only in the golf cart style. They don't have to be as big as a truck, but at the very least they need to have some crush zones in front and behind.
