What new modern features would you add and how far would you go? I'd try to get four wheel disc brakes, high back bucket seats, and a resto looking modern stereo.
I want to put an S2000 or 240sx motor in a Ford Maverick
Maverick was one of those cars that looked great as a two door coupe but looked strange as a 4 door car. You'd have to also change the transmission and suspension to do that.
Isn't the front leaf springs on that car? I may be wrong.
You are wrong.
I don't know of any American cars from the Maverick's era that still had leaf springs in the front.
Front leaf springs on cars essentially disappeared with the advent of independent front suspension.
I've always wanted to take an old Porsche 911SC with a blown engine, and swap in a SBC. I'd also redo the suspension, front and rear, much larger sway bars and end links, and then revamp the interior a bit with digital gauges. Saw a car once that had all blacked out gauges... til you turned the car on, then everything lit up. Was a very stealth look to it.

I'd like to put a K1200 BMW motorcycle engine in an Isetta. A Corvair engine in an old VW bug convertible would be fun too and replace it in the Corvair with a small block Chevy.

I've been wanting to get an older Fox Body Mustang, or Mercury Capri and put a new 5.0 Coyote engine with a cobra IRS, beef up the rest of the suspension
