We have a 1995 Ford F150 flareside extended cab 2 wheel drive with 206K miles on it and it is still in great shape. The body has a few more minor blemishes to fix and it needs brake work on one side but we do that ourselves so it's not a big deal. We bought it from a friend and plan on driving it from Maine to TN next year hauling a trailer with our belongings. would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. I love an old Ford truck over most vehicles any day!

It would not concern me in the least, if the used SUVs are Volvos, Mercedes-Benzes, Audis or BMWs that had been well maintained with service records to prove it, especially if they were diesels.

Any of the above mentioned makes aren't even broken in yet with only 40,000-60,000 miles on their odometers.

It just depends on the vehicle and how well it has been taken care of. I bought my car at 96k miles. Plan to run it to 200k , maybe more.

Depends on the car and how well you maintain the car. . I have had good luck with cars from Toyota, Honda and Nissan...

1996 Acura RL. 253,000 miles when it went to the crusher
1998 Toyota Camry 280,000 miles; sold it to an exporter
2000 Toyota Sienna 265,000; sold it
2004 Honda Pilot. 174,000; still driving it
1991 Nissan 300ZX 134,000; summer car

In a large metropolitan area a car can be 4 years old and have 100K on it because it is driven to hell and back on a daily basis, usually commuting back and forth for employment.
That is a car I would avoid as they are driven like rentals over the worst roads possible which wears parts like a 10 year old car with 50K on it doesn't know of.

60K is cool.

The last few cars I've bought had 195k, 135k, and 140k miles on them when purchased. No major problems to speak of. In fact, I commute 70 miles/day in a car with 150k miles on it. It runs great and the only problem is a slightly rattle from the trunk area.

Mileage doesn't worry me, but I do take it into account. If someone is selling a Honda Civic with 235k miles and they're asking $6,000 for it, I won't even bother taking a look at it. But if I am considering a car with high miles (or any car really), I'll speak with the owner to see how well it's been maintained.

Two benefits to buying a car with over 115k miles is you can get it cheap and usually the timing belt and other major replacement items have been done at that point.

I bought a 2003 buick lesabre with 47K miles. maintained perfectly. I've kept up the maintenance, and it hit 111,111 last night.

I bought a 2009 ford f250 with 213,000 miles on it, I drive it occasionally. It doesn't have the original engine or transmission.

In the past? I've had all sorts, and they mostly sucked due to poor maintenance of prior owners.

The answer is...it depends. Its ALL about the maintenance of a vehicle I have learned. A poorly maintained vehicle with 40K on it can be a nightmare compared to a well maintained 200K mileage vehicle.

Given a preference between the 2? I want another vehicle with 40K on it, mostly because of the wear and tear on the interior. But I want to know that maintenance is good. Ask when the last oil change was. If they say "I dont know" or "never" and they are a individual seller, walk away.
