Backwards? Only the terrorist mongrels have it backwards.

An old Native chief sat in his hut on the reservation, smoking a ceremonial pipe and eyeing two U.S. government officials sent to interview him.

"Chief Two Eagles," asked one official, "you have observed the white man for 90 years. You've seen his wars and his technological advances. You've seen
his progress, and the damage he has done." The chief nodded in agreement.

The official continued, "Considering all these events that you have witnessed, where did the white man go wrong?"

The chief stared at the officials for over a minute and then calmly replied: "When the white man came to this land, Indians were running it.

No taxes!
No debt!
Plenty Buffalo.
Plenty Beaver.
Women did all the work.
Medicine Man free.
Native men spent all day hunting and fishing."

Then the chief leaned back and smiled..... "Only white man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that."

Now get over the fact that the Japanese shot down your grandpappys because they were in backwards military technology...

See how that works? Which invader is worse? The 70 year old one or the 400 year old one. They practice the same methods for the same selfish reasons.

@LR That's quite a ridiculous rant, look how it ended up.

BTW , back on topic, I prefer cars that are reliable and run well. Never had a problem with my Toyotas.

My Fords, General Motors and Chryslers were unreliable and had to be repaired quite often.

I'd prefer to buy American, but I'd rather buy something that actually runs like it's supposed to after shelling out my money.

I tend to buy the one single car that best suits my wants, needs, and expectations. Since I am rather particular, I find I am rarely (if ever) left with a plethora of choices I feel equally about and would agonize between.

So really, after all that, I have no need to consider the flag flying in front of the manufacturers headquarters.

If the car happens to be from a Detroit based company, then great! I have bought those. If it doesn't, then the Detroit based companies are not making the best car for me at that time and too bad.

Kind of ironic that BMW built a car you could lock people in though. I wonder if there was a nerve gas option that went with it? Remember the 14 year old in California that died from this wonderful option?

Yep. It certainly puts some perspective on life's little annoyances even 32 years later!

Even they aren't the originals. The "Red Paint" people were here before them.

Ford, a known pacifist, opposed America's entry into World War II. Nevertheless, he agreed to build airplane engines for the British government. In May 1940, he stated: 'If it became necessary, the Ford Motor Company could, with the counsel of men like [Charles] Lindbergh and [Eddie] Rickenbacker, under our own supervision and without meddling by government agencies, swing into the production of a thousand airplanes of standard design a day.'
It was the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that inspired Ford to begin a tremendous, all-out manufacturing effort. To the west of Dearborn, the giant Willow Run plant was built to produce B-24 Liberator bombers on an assembly line that was a mile long. The first bomber rolled off the line in May 1942, beginning the effective production of several hundred aircraft a month. Bombers were produced at the rate of one plane per hour, thereby confounding Ford's critics, who had called the plant undertaking 'Willit Run.' By the end of the war, Ford had built 86,865 complete aircraft, plus 57,851 airplane engines, thousands of engine superchargers and generators, and 4,291 military gliders.
Ford also turned out tanks, armored cars, jeeps and engines for robot bombs. In the midst of the heaviest production during the war years, Ford returned to his post as chief executive of the Ford Motor Company when Edsel, who had taken over for his father, died in 1943.
