I hot a registration renewal that says I have to go for a smog check.
I searched for "smog check" on Google maps, but it didn't find anything.
Do I have to go to a DMV smog check station, or any car mechanic can do the check and the official paperwork for a smog check?

in arizona, and i believe california would be the same, you have to go to a DMV certified inspection station. there should be an information packet that came with your registration that provides the locations for the inspection stations.

Just take it to any smog shop. They'll run a few tests, charge you 60$ or so, and give you the paperwork to take to the DMV if you passed.

In California if it says Test Only you HAVE to take it to a place that ONLY does the test and no mechanical.. If it just says Smog Check or something like that you can take it anywhere....
