Just because one person parks their cars like that doesn't mean everyone does.
When my sister and I lived at our parents house there was 4 cars and 2 motorcycles. The bikes were in the garage and 2 cars in drive way and still had to have 2 cars in the street.
A guy in our neighborhood parks his 2 cars outside..One is a family grocery getter and the other is a Dodge Dart Super Sport in Bug Juice Green.. It has not moved in the 3 years we have lived here and it has cobwebs and crap all under and over it... I always wondered why he doesn't park a collectible car like that in the garage.. One day I found out why... He has another Dart in the garage with all kinds of boxes and crap piles all over and around it.. Couldn't even walk thru the garage.... So that is his reason for NOT parking in the garage.. Probably a lot of other peoples too....
That's really common for S Cal. I know of three that park in their garage otherwise they all park on the street. Many garages are turned into game rooms or who knows what not. One of the biggest reasons is that the developers made the garages so small if you tried to park 2 in it you wouldn't be able to open the doors. Or, if you want a washer and dryer in there you have to sacrifice parking in it. The unwritten rule of most home owners is that it's ok to street park just keep it in front of your own home. One neighbor rents out 3 rooms so it would be rather hard for him to put 5 cars in a 2 car garage.
I have only parked my car in my driveway or garage maybe a total of 3-4 days in the last 25 years. I have stuff in the garage and if I am in driveway it is a tight tight squeeze to get two cars in and I get blocked in. Plus someother ******* just comes by and parks in front of house anyhow. So what. I only park in front of my own house.
I hate people that do this. We have two houses in my neighborhood that are like this that are right next to each other. The problem is that they are on the corner of the street that turns into our neighborhood. It has been so bad before, with vehicles parked on BOTH sides of the street, that another house on our street had called 911 for an emergency once and the firetruck could not get through because these a-hole people can't be bothered to clean out their garage to actually use it for their cars.
Amen! The neighbor's garage caught fire next to us, and because of the parking situation on the street leading to ours, the firetrucks had to back up and take a longer route. Needless to say, they were delayed for a good 4-5 minutes longer than they should have been. IMO they should be allowed to push any cars in the way....out of the way! Our garage had started to catch fire and we could have lost the 3 vehicles in it.
We currently have an extended 3 car garage, which I can fit 4 cars in as two of them are about 15' long and fit one behind the other. We will be getting another vehicle shortly, and I'm trying to figure out how to fit all 5 of them in the garage. I detest leaving my vehicles out in the heat & rain, and having dew on the windows to wipe off every morning. Did that for a year in an apartment, and never again.
How big is your car? Was the garage intended to fit a car when it was built?
It's a Mazda 3; I'm assuming since the garage has a standard-sized door on it, and the door doesn't seem to be retrofitted, the garage was intended to fit a car (certainly in my 'hood no one kept a horse and buggy ). But alas, the garage is only a few inches wider than the door, which makes it impossible to open the car doors once you're in there.
I guess to satisfy the OP I could crawl out through the sunroof.
If the garage is full of stuff, then that person has too much stuff. He needs to watch a few episodes of Hoarders.
It would only be my business if it were my neighbor parking his cars in front of my house. In this case, an HOA wouldn't be a bad thing.
I would never buy a house that has the garage made into something else, I always keep my cars in the garage, and I want my neighbors to do the same. It's a GARAGE.
I don't like it either. It makes it a safety issue especially on winding streets.
