Locally in the Summer we have lots of bike riders to share the road with. Yes they bother me but I'm a biker too, just not on the road because it is too dangerous, so I'm patient with them.
What I can't stand is when bikers are approaching me and there is a car coming up behind them, the oncoming car swerves into my lane and gives just enough room to both riders and me scaring both. The law is to yield until it is safe to pass and that goes for parked cars as well. You don't swerve into oncoming traffic because you are in too much of a rush to slow down a bit.
Another peeve of mine is I don't like to jump out infront of cars when I'm taking a left hand turn so I wait until it is safe. So many times it happens that the approaching car takes the right turn without indicating. YOU JERK ! You saw me waiting for you, I didn't want to peel out infront of you forcing you to slam your brakes so the least you could do is put your indicator on. GEEZ.
18 wheeler's that pull into the left lane to pass another 18 wheeler, going uphill, at or below the speed limit! They sure aren't going to go faster up the hill, but rather they slow down and clog everything up behind them.
All the folks who pass to the front of the line and force their way in at the last second. This usually happens at exits, or when a lane changes to a turn only lane. I have no problem with it when there is a lane ending as that is just using the full available lanes.
Motorcyclist coming out of nowhere, lane straddling thru my blindspot going 100 mph. Usually a crotch rocket driven by young member of our military feeling indestructible.
or have you ever seen someone who manages to keep their brake lights on while going up a hill? that one has puzzled me a few times.
Drivers who are driving the speed limit downhill and constantly brake check so they never go over the magical 35 mph mark. I hate that with a passion. Are they afraid of something? Is 37 mph in the danger zone?
It ranks up there with drivers who brake while proceeding through an intersection after a lengthy traffic light. There is no one in front of them and all traffic is going in the same direction - why come to a near stop in the intersection? Everyone starts honking behind you and flipping you off as if it is your doing.
Why don't these braking drivers find a parking lot and utilize it?
I can't stand the left lane linger. Just hang there side by side with the vehicle to the right. Or in the blind spot of an 18 wheeler.
They won't go any faster, and they wont back down. While there are cars behind them and nothing ahead of them. They jus linger.
Seattle drivers; nothing is worse, more confused and unpredictable/indecisive
and lacks basic skill more than the Seattle driver.
Completely clueless morons, worst I have ever seen in my travels.
Oh honey, then maybe....maybe...you have gone thru bootcamp to be
able to drive in Boston.
Out of all the things I've experienced driving for about 20 years one thing always gets me riled up the most.
Driving in the right lane behind a slow truck I put my blinker on to get in the left lane to pass but can't because cars are in the lane. As soon as the last car goes by in the left lane the guy behind me flies out and passes us both. It's not like I took too long waiting to pass either. As soon as that last cars rear bumper is even with my front bumper I'm ready to get in that left lane.
This happens a lot no matter what car or truck I drive. This is the selfish mentality of society these days. They see my blinker because they are right on my bumper.
Nothing else gets me worked up more then this. I could have someone cut me off and I quickly get over it.
The most annoying thing other drivers do...
...is drive.
If they didn't do this, they'd never be able to do all of the other annoying and stupid things they do. Problems solved.
Swerving around while preoccupied with a handheld, electronic device. The communications industry evidently gives bribes to law enforcement and legislators, or there would be strict laws against this that would be enforced.
I don't know how it is where you live, but here (in the Bay Area) that is both illegal AND enforced! You still see the occasional idiot on their handheld devices, usually very obvious if you're behind them, however it's much more rare now that they can pull you over just for that violation.
Now to answer the OP, I could probably compile a list 10 miles long!! The drivers here are just awful sometimes, but these are some things that annoy me the most:
- Running through "No turn on red" right arrows, which is probably unintentional sometimes; also, turning right on a red (when allowed) without looking for U-turners.
- Left lane hogs, of course.
- Using long exit lanes to get around traffic on the freeway.
- People who IMMEDIATELY swoop to the farthest left lane (most of our freeways have at least 3-4 lanes on either side) after getting on the freeway, often without looking.
- Speeding through parking lots & tiny dead-end streets; just plain dangerous, and this coming from someone who averages 80mph on highways.
- People who violate the HOV lane during rush hour.
And that's just scratching the surface! Let's say I have learned the importance of deep breathing after driving here for so many years.
