Your thoughts? What charges do you think the driver would receive? What charges do you think the bicycler would receive? Who is in the wrong?

Actually, it's "Driver in SUV hits bicycler".
If bicycler were in SUV, what damage could possibly happen to him?

Red light right hand turn. Kid had right of yield, likely crossing on green.
Least - new bike, fancy one for the kid.
Worst - lawyers greed is unfathomable. I did not see any personal injury though. Bent wheel.. But, like I said - should lawyers get involved....

Btw, though I appreciate the good Samaritan effort - that's the easiest way to get shot at. He should have talked to the kid and report to police. Let'm handle this.

I would think the driver would, at the very, least be charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

The cyclist appears to stop in the driver's blind spot (A-pillar), but I can't really whether she stops before the driver begins moving, or after. It's so close to being simultaneous, that it's hard to tell.

Regardless, the driver was supposed to be stopped behind the crosswalk, and wasn't. Had he been stopped there, he might have seen the cyclist and not hit her.

The cyclist also needs to take more care. Never presume a driver sees you and never presume he will yield the right-of-way to you, even when he is required to do so! She's lucky that her bike was the only thing hurt!

I disagree that the bicyclist was in the SUV's blindspot ... looks to me like the driver did not look to the right before driving.

It looks like its the Morning. Driver was probably not fully awake and hadnt looked to the right before easing up.

Evading responsibility, evading scene of an accident.

I have talked to insurance agents and LEO, the policy is that the motorist is always in the wrong.

It was the bicyclist fault. Watch it carefully. She is on the street.off the curb. If she had stayed on the curb. She wouldn't have gotten hit.. She got real lucky.

Driver was wrong to drive off. Whatever you hit. You need to get out to check it. Driver recognize it was a bike and a female. Driver definitely had to stop to render aid.

Was this somewhere in California?

Just my opinion.

Whatcha wanna bet the Driver of the SUV was either Chatting or Texting?

Being both a regular Bicycle Rider and a Pedestrian, I have witnessed this same scenario many many times, thankfully never personally involved, and most of the time the driver is just NOT PAYING ATTENTION.

As for charges . . . definitely a hefty fine plus a new bike for the kid and if this is not the first offense, possibly 30 days in the slammer may get the point across, otherwise, community service.

Bottom line . . . regardless of "who has the right of way," never step in front of a vehicle until you make visual contact with the driver's eyes.

SUV driver at fault, should face hit and run charges and leaving scene of accident. Cyclist clearly had right of way.

^^^^I was curious to see the bicyclist in the SUV as well.

I was also stunned to see a motorist chase down a strange vehicle and approach the driver. Yep, a good way to get an arse whooping or gunned down. Calling the cops would have been a much better way to deal with the situation.

The driver was at fault for not stopping at the very least and after a lawyer gets involved it will be hell for that driver. The kid on the bike has a lot to learn about traffic if wanting to ride a bike into the 20s. It's not a playground and not everyone is looking out for you. It's your responsibility at that point and people should reinforce the fact.
