It's fun.
And it's also really nice to have a car basically do what you're thinking right when you think it.

while getting 8mpg. Love the X5M. The only thing I'd rather have more is the M5.

8 mpg was the old F250 460. It was fast, and would pull anything, but 10 mpg was downhill with a tailwind. The Lightning is a 17 mpg truck.

Because of efficiency and computing improvements, a high end V6 can easily get 375 HP. In reality, that's all any normal people need, but some people like the sound of the more powerful V8s with 450-500+ HP. Generallly you're paying for the sound combined with maybe 1-2 seconds off your 0-60 time.

Stupid thread. Can we go a month without someone posting a dumb thread about what is the "point" of certain cars?

You want to know the point,OP? It's because they sell. There's a market for them, and that's all you need to know. Same goes for slow, piddly little econoboxes with good gas mileage. There's a market for them too.

I really don't like Indian food. But, there are many Indian restaurants in my city because, hey, there's a market for it and lots of people like Indian food.

Man, CD seems to be inundated with a lot of ridiculous threads lately.

I've driven a rental Toyota corolla and it's all you need really. It's got enough power to merge, it's got a radio, keyless entry, comfortable seats, quiet interior, easy steering etc pretty much all you need. But I'll still drive a BMW M5 or something similar over that anyday.
It may have all you need, it has nothing I need or want. I'll keep pedalling if someone tried to give me any Corolla.

It's the need for speed, especially when you're behind some slow poke holding up traffic, you can zip out around them and back into your lane before that speedster coming the opposite way having the same slow poke situation.

And this affects you how? Why do you care what they buy or how they use it? It's not coming out of your pocket, is it?
